We got to go to the Kennacott night at real thanks to Grandpa. It was so much fun Grayson won a ball and was so excited "yippy I the winner..waahoo!" All the food was free so we got the chance to try things we would normally never spend the money on. Grayson picked a cookie the size of his head, he loved it! We had such a blast as a family. Thanks Grandpa!

Real with Grandpa & Grandma Christensen

The Zoo...Grayson's Happy Place
The Zoo is pretty much a weekly event for us. Grayson is so happy there he always has a smile on his face. We have to go in the same order and see all the animals of course. If we can get out of there without buying a toy (anything with wings) it is a really good day. His favorite thing to do is walk around and see the animals and then go to the bird show(one of his favorite) then hit the carousel. After all that we need to go on a train ride, see the bats, and then at the end it's recess(the playground) The last trip took just 5 hours. He is always happy there so it is well worth it. I can't wait until next week!
A day at the Park..
Grayson and I needed to get out of the house so we took a walk to the park. He was so amased by the skate borders. He said they were magicans...lol (his newest word from a movie). He is so funny because he has decided he likes to be a turtle and huddle up in a ball and roll down the hill like on mario. He also asked everyone boy/girl whats your name? It was a lot of fun, I love spending time with him doing simple things like the park. He doesn't get very many chances to just be a kid. He told me when we got home "Mom I just so tired happy" I love him!
Happy Independence Day!
I love the 4th of July it is one of my favorite holidays because I get to see my whole family. We always go to a party at my Aunt Diana's and have a BBQ. It is always so much fun. But, in all that fun there is always part of me that is sad for a few reason's. One because there are like 9 kids in my family all the same age of Grayson. I don't see the autism as much until he is around other kids his age. I see the way they can tell stories and tell about things that happened at school. I also see the way they all play together and Grayson goes and plays all by himself. He has come so far and works so hard I feel bad that I always am looking for more. But, I can't wait until the year Grayson can go to one of these things and tell everyone stories about his year and play games with the kids his age. Also, every year we go to this party I hate seeing how lonely my Dad is and how much he and our family wishes my Mom was there. She was always the first person every kid there wanted to see. She had a gift with little kids she was never afraid to get down on there level and play. I miss her more during holidays and I know my Dad does as well. Alright, enough of the sad here is the funny. We all go around an introduce our family's and on my turn I of course say I'm Melissa, this is my husband Robert, and our son Grayson. Our cute Grayson got all in a huff and said as loud as he could "hey wait not Grayson, My name is Mario" his new fixation. It made me laugh so hard. He is so funny! After the party Grayson, Robert, and I went to the Sandy City fireworks and had a blast watching the show. The only problem is that now Grayson thinks there is going to be a show every night!

Go Blue Jays!
Grayson had so much fun doing T-ball this year. We decided we would try to put him with typical kids to see if it might help him interact better with kids. We were so worried they would be mean to him. You could tell the other kids didn't quite know what to think of him and all his quirky behaviors but, they were pretty nice to him overall. Grayson really hated outfield the waiting really killed him. He wouldn't wear the batters helmet but, that didn't stop him from being a cute batter. He tried so hard to hit the ball so far. I love watching him do something and seeing how proud he is of himself. He would always tell everyone it was a HOME RUN! Grayson always went chasing after the ball when he hit it and we would have to show him where to run. He did have a hard time because he wasn't the best catcher and would get upset when all the kids got to the ball before him. He made sure to ask everyone "What's you name?" and most the time the kids would just ignore him. That made me sad to watch. I know he is quirky but he tries so hard to make friends. I hope he can find someone to be his best Friend someday and for them to just accept him for who he is. Grayson you are the cutest Blue Jay!!!

The Bee's First Pitch
Our little Grayson has been asked to throw the first pitch at the Bee's game on August 5th. We are so proud of him and excited for the opportunity to once again participate in such a fun event. It is a night that they help raise money for The Pingree Center for children with Autism. I love to watch Grayson get the chance to do things like this. I hope it all goes as planed (meltdown free). Anyone is welcome to come out and watch our little guy play in the minor leagues. He is such a lucky boy! We will also have the chance to meet the team, mascot, and take pictures with them. I really can't wait!!!!
